April 2019 Update
It is a pleasure to be able to write and advise that in the first three months of 2019, the following has been achieved.
2 scholarship recipients have completed their courses, and another was selected as an Outward Bound instructor before his course was due to start so is now attending, but in a different role! Congratulations to Jamie on his successful appointment.
The recipients who attended a Professional Leadership Course and Classic 21 day course, both emerged with glowing reports about their experience, with lessons learned that we feel confident they will share into their workplace and community.
Another four scholarships have been awarded in April for courses over the remainder of the year, with predominant themes in applications being:
- A desire to inspire youth of today to connect in real terms with people and environment, away from screens and social media influence.
- A desire to actively be involved in the future of the planet, around conservation and responsibility.
The OB Hirenga course in July 2019 will see DCT sponsoring four Year 12 secondary school pupils from low decile Auckland Schools into this wonderful course. Hiringa means perseverance, energy, determination, inspiration, vitality. You can see more details about this course here.
